Whitehair arrives in Keyser with more than 15 years of coaching experience across the high school, club, and recreational levels, along with a proven track record of player development and program building within the state of West Virginia. A WVU alumnus, Whitehair earned his bachelor's degree in Finance and Political Science from West Virginia University in 2006.
Most recently, Whitehair served as the head girls varsity soccer coach at Preston High School, a role he assumed in June of 2022 after spending three seasons as an assistant coach. Since joining the Preston County program in 2019, Whitehair has been instrumental in elevating the Knights within one of the most competitive regions of West Virginia high school soccer.
As head coach, Whitehair led all facets of the Preston High School program, including training design, match preparation, strength and conditioning planning, and player evaluation. His leadership helped produce six All-State, All-Region, and All-Conference selections, while also guiding six student-athletes to collegiate soccer opportunities, including one player who began the sport just two years prior to recruitment.
Whitehair is widely respected for his commitment to holistic player development, emphasizing discipline, accountability, and a positive team culture. His background includes extensive experience in goalkeeper training, technical skill development, and small-sided tactical instruction. He has also been heavily involved in building youth feeder programs throughout Preston County to support long-term program growth.
At the club level, Whitehair spent six years as a Head Coach and Goalkeeper Coach with the Preston County Soccer Club, further strengthening his ties to the regional soccer community. His dedication to the sport was recognized in 2019 when he was named West Virginia Soccer Association Boys Recreational Coach of the Year.
Whitehair also brings playing experience from his time with West Virginia University Club Soccer, reinforcing his deep connection to WVU athletic tradition.
