Keyser, W.Va. – WVU Potomac State College student-athletes put service into action on Saturday, August 23, as the Catamounts partnered with the Rotary of Keyser and Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build 50 beds for children in need across West Virginia. The one-day service project brought together student-athletes, coaches, and community members under the Rotary's motto, "Service Above Self," and the University's core values.
Of the 50 beds constructed, 30 will remain in Mineral County to support local families, while 20 will be distributed to other areas across the state.
"We are proud of our Catamounts for their hard work and commitment to serving others," said WVU Potomac State Athletic Director Mandi Larkin. "This project reflects the very best of what it means to be a student-athlete at Potomac State—giving your all, not just on the field or court, but in the community as well."
The event also highlighted the strong partnership between WVU Potomac State College and the Rotary of Keyser, with both organizations committed to improving the lives of children and families in the region. Through their collective effort, the Catamounts demonstrated that building a stronger community begins with lending a hand—and in this case, building a bed.
