Drennen, Jenkins pitch Potomac State to sweep over Catonsville

Keyser, WV- Jaxon Drennen and Evan Jenkins each gave Potomac State a well-pitched game as the Catamounts swept a pair of games Sunday afternoon at Golden Park.

The opener featured a tight contest, highlighted by a dominant outing from Drennen on the mound enroute to a 4-2 win.

Potomac State wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning. After a one-out walk to Lex Wescott, John Mallow crushed a two-run home run to give the Catamounts an early 2-0 lead.

Catonsville answered in the third, capitalizing on a miscue to score an unearned run and cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Catamounts responded in the fourth inning.  Dyland Rice laced a two-out triple to start the rally.  Braden Sloan was then hit by a pitch.  Brayden Harris then drew a walk to load the bases.  Lex Wescott was then hit by a pitch, forcing in Rice and extending the lead to 3-1.

An inning later, Rice delivered again—lining a single to score Callen Miller and push the advantage to 4-1.

Catonsville scratched across a run in the sixth on an RBI single from John Moreno.

Drennen set the tone from the start, turning in a dominant performance. He worked five innings, allowing just two hits and one unearned run while striking out an impressive 11 hitters.

Jacob Stavrakis closed the door over the final two innings, securing the save.

In the nightcap, Potomac State broke open a scoreless game in the second inning and never looked back, securing a 10-0 victory.

The Catamounts struck first in the bottom of the second. With traffic on the bases, Lex Wescott ripped a triple into the gap, scoring Brayden Harris and Seth Healy. Moments later, John Mallow followed with an RBI double to extend the lead to 3-0.

In the fourth inning, Potomac State continued to build onto the lead. After Harris reached and Mallow worked his way on, Jaxon Drennen delivered a run-scoring single to push the lead to 4-0. Dylan Rice followed with a sharp single of his own, plating two more runs and stretching the advantage to 6-0.
