Catamounts drop pair to Westmoreland County

Game 1: Westmoreland 14, Potomac State 4

Westmoreland County CC broke through first in the second inning and never trailed, using a three-run frame to take control of the game and the day. A two-run triple from Noah Matson plated Owen Dumbroski and Tyler Skaggs, and Jake Sincak followed with a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 3-0.

Potomac State answered in the fourth inning with its most productive stretch of the game. Callen Miller sparked the rally with a two-run home run, scoring John Mallow, and Evan Swain followed with a two-run shot of his own to give the Catamounts a brief 4-3 lead.

Westmoreland responded immediately in the fifth, stringing together run-scoring hits. Darren DeRiggi doubled home a run before Owen Dumbroski added an RBI single. Sean Franzi capped the inning with a two-run double, putting Westmoreland back in front 7-4.

The visitors broke the game open in the sixth. A bases-loaded walk forced in a run, then Jake Sincak delivered a two-run single. Moments later, Sean Franzi struck again with another two-run double, extending the lead to 12-4.

Westmoreland added insurance in the seventh as Jake Domkowski homered and Noah Matson doubled in another run. Dumbroski led the offensive effort with four hits, while Sincak and Franzi combined for seven RBIs. Potomac State's offense was limited outside of the fourth inning surge.

Game 2: Westmoreland 13, Potomac State 6

Westmoreland again set the tone early, erupting for five runs in the second inning. Jake Sincak doubled to drive in a run, Owen Dumbroski followed with a two-run single, and Sean Franzi added another two-run hit to quickly build a 5-0 advantage.

The momentum continued in the third inning as Avery Humphrey singled home a run before Sincak delivered the biggest swing of the game, a three-run home run that stretched the lead to 9-0.

Potomac State got on the board in the bottom of the third when John Mallow came home on a wild pitch. The Catamounts mounted their best rally in the fourth inning, beginning with a bases-loaded walk by Jaxon Drennen. Callen Miller followed with a two-run single, and Ryan Conrad added an RBI knock. Dylan Rice capped the inning with a run-scoring double, trimming the deficit to 10-6.

Westmoreland answered once again in the fifth. Sincak hit his second home run of the game, a solo shot, and additional runs scored on an error and a sacrifice fly from Darren DeRiggi, pushing the final margin to 13-6.

Sincak led Westmoreland with five RBIs and two home runs in the game, while Dumbroski and Franzi contributed key hits throughout. Potomac State collected seven hits, with Miller and Conrad each driving in runs during the fourth inning rally, but could not overcome the early deficit.
