Potomac State Softball Season Preview - 2025

Potomac State Softball Season Preview - 2025

The Potomac State softball team enters the 2025 season with renewed optimism and a strong desire to continue their recent championship success. Under the guidance of first-year head coach Chris Greise, the Catamounts are looking to capture their Fourth consecutive Region 20 title, building on their back-to-back-to-back championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024. This season also marks an exciting continuation of the program's upward trajectory, with the team eager to make another run at the NJCAA National Championships after a memorable performance last year.

A Legacy of Success

Potomac State's recent dominance in Region 20 has set a high standard. The Catamounts claimed Region 20 titles in 2022, 2023 and 2024, showcasing their dominance in the region. Last year, the team didn't just stop at the regional title — they made an impact on the national stage by winning their first ever game at the NJCAA National Championships. This accomplishment was a historic moment for the program, cementing their status as a competitive force in NJCAA softball.

The Catamounts' goal for the 2025 season is clear: defend their Region 20 title and make a deeper run at the national level. With a roster full of talented players, led by Chloe Greise, a third-team NJCAA All-American, The Catamounts are ready to build on the momentum from past years.

Key Players to Watch

The 2025 squad will be led by Chloe Greise, whose performance in the circle will be critical to the team's success. Greise's 22-5 record, 2.86 ERA, and 210 strikeouts in 161.1 innings last season were instrumental in Potomac State's regional championship run.  She will be pivotal in the circle as the Catamounts look to defend their title.

Potomac State also boasts a powerful offense, led by Jamie Kelly who hit an impressive .448 with 13 doubles, 13 homeruns and 66 total bases last season. Kelly's ability to produce runs and drive in key hits will be essential for the team's success in both the regional tournament and beyond.

Additionally, Braylee Corbin and Eva Ochoa will bring strong hitting to the plate. Corbin hit .373 with 44 hits, 7 doubles and 10 home runs last season, while Ochoa displayed her speed on the bases with 31 stolen bases and a .344 batting average. Their contributions will be key in generating offense and maintaining the team's aggressive approach.

The Catamounts will also look to toward some new faces to help reach another championship title. Lacie Miller will look to help in the circle, while others like Ashton Spiker, Lindsay Mowry, and Skyla Compton will add to Potomac State's dominance at the plate.

2025 Schedule Highlights

Potomac State's schedule is loaded with tough opponents and key matchups that will challenge the team's skill and preparation. The team will face non-conference competition before diving into the heart of their Region 20 games, where they'll look to defend their title.
