Potomac State Overpowers Lakeland in Dominant Doubleheader

Keyser, W. Va. - Potomac State delivered an offensive showcase on Thursday, sweeping Lakeland Community College in dominant fashion at home. The Catamounts combined for 28 runs and 30 hits across the two games, securing a 10-2 victory in Game 1 and an 18-3 win in Game 2.


Game 1 – WVU Potomac State 10, Lakeland 2

The Catamounts wasted no time igniting the offense, plating three runs in the opening inning and never looking back in a five-inning run-rule victory. Adison Pritts set the tone early, blasting a two-run home run in the first inning before Skyla Compton followed with a solo shot to quickly push Potomac State ahead 3-0. The Catamounts continued to add on in the second inning as Olivia Julian delivered an RBI single, Maddie Fields ripped an RBI double, and Pritts struck again with an RBI double to extend the lead to 6-0.

Potomac State's power surge continued in the third inning when Carlee Haines launched a solo home run to make it 7-0. The Catamounts added three more runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by Pritts' second home run of the game and an RBI single from Delaney Randolph, stretching the advantage to 10-0.

Pritts led the offensive charge, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, and four RBIs, while Fields added two hits, three runs scored, and an RBI. Compton contributed two hits, including a home run, and Haines added a homer of her own as Potomac State finished with 12 hits.

In the circle, Delaney Randolph was dominant, striking out seven batters over four scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. McKinlea Hill worked the final inning to close out the victory.


Game 2 – WVU Potomac State 18, Lakeland 3

Potomac State's offense erupted even earlier in the second game, exploding for nine runs in the first inning to seize immediate control. The Catamounts opened the scoring on an RBI groundout by Skyla Compton, followed by an RBI single from Alaira Harrington and a sacrifice fly from Makayla Irvin. Moments later, Olivia Julian crushed a three-run home run before Compton capped the inning with another three-run homer, giving Potomac State a commanding 9-0 lead.

Lakeland briefly answered with a three-run homer of their own in the third inning, but the Catamounts responded with five runs in the bottom of the frame. Compton drove in another run with a single before Harrington delivered a two-run double and Carlee Haines added an RBI single. Potomac State put the game out of reach with a four-run fourth inning. Jaianna Wickline and Irvin each recorded sacrifice flies, while McKinlea Hill drove in a run with a single as the Catamounts stretched the lead to 18-3.

The offense was relentless, tallying 18 hits in the game. Fields led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 performance and three runs scored, while Compton went 2-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs. Harrington added two hits and three RBIs, Julian launched a three-run homer, and Katelyn Cooper finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

In the circle, Lacie Miller earned the win, striking out eight batters over four innings while allowing three runs. Hill returned to pitch a scoreless fifth inning to secure the sweep.


Potomac State showcased its offensive depth throughout the doubleheader, hitting six home runs across the two games while aggressively attacking on the bases and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. The Catamounts will host Howard Community College on Sunday, March 15th, 2026 for a doubleheader starting at 12pm.
