Potomac State Responds with Authority, Takes Two from Monroe

Game 1 – Potomac State 11, Monroe 3 (5 innings)

WVU Potomac State wasted no time making a statement, erupting offensively in an 11-3 run-rule victory to open the doubleheader.

The Catamounts set the tone early with a three-run first inning and never looked back. Adison Pritts jumpstarted the offense with an RBI double before Katelyn Cooper and Olivia Julian followed with run-scoring hits to build an immediate advantage.

Potomac State continued to apply pressure throughout, adding runs in every inning. Pritts delivered one of the biggest swings of the game with a two-run home run in the second, finishing with three RBIs. Julian powered the middle of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs, while Skyla Compton added a two-run homer of her own as part of an 11-hit attack.

At the top of the order, Maddie Fields sparked the offense with a triple, two hits, and two runs scored, while Cooper added two hits and an RBI in a balanced offensive effort.

In the circle, Delaney Randolph delivered a complete-game performance, allowing just three runs (two earned) over five innings while striking out three to secure the win.


Game 2 – Potomac State 8, Monroe 5

The Catamounts completed the sweep with another strong offensive showing, pulling away late for an 8-5 victory.

Potomac State responded throughout the game, answering Monroe's scoring with timely hitting before breaking it open in the sixth inning. With the game tied, the Catamounts plated three runs in the frame to take control for good.

Skyla Compton led the charge at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, including a key go-ahead hit in the sixth. Makayla Irvin delivered a clutch performance, driving in two runs, including a bases-loaded walk during the decisive rally, while also recording a double earlier in the game.

Katelyn Cooper contributed across the board with two hits, including a triple and an RBI, while Julian added two hits and an RBI of her own. Carlee Haines chipped in with an RBI single as part of the Catamounts' 14-hit performance.

In the circle, Lacie Miller went the distance, earning the win after tossing seven innings. She allowed five runs (three earned) while striking out four, battling through traffic and delivering key outs to keep the Catamounts in front down the stretch.
