Potomac State Delivers Across the Board in Sweep

Keyser, W.Va. - Potomac State Softball delivered an offensive showcase on Wednesday, overwhelming Mount Aloysius in a doubleheader sweep at home. The Catamounts piled up 29 hits across the two games, using timely hitting and aggressive baserunning to control both contests from start to finish.

Game 1 – WVU Potomac State 16, Mount Aloysius 2 (5 innings)

The Catamounts wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for eight runs in the opening inning to seize complete control early. Potomac State sent 12 batters to the plate in the first, highlighted by RBI knocks from Skyla Compton, Delaney Randolph, and Katelyn Cooper, with Cooper's bases-clearing triple serving as a key blow.

Compton led the offensive charge with a 3-for-4 performance and three RBIs, while Randolph was perfect at the plate (3-for-3) with two RBIs and two runs scored. Cooper added three RBIs and showcased extra-base power, and Alaira Harrington drove in a game-high four runs, including a pair of doubles.

In total, the Catamounts tallied 16 hits and 14 RBIs, scoring in every inning they came to the plate. Aggressive baserunning also played a major role, with multiple stolen bases helping apply constant pressure.

Inside the circle, Randolph earned the win, allowing just one hit and no earned runs over three innings while striking out one. McKinlea Hill closed out the game, limiting Mount Aloysius to two hits over the final two frames.

Game 2 – WVU Potomac State 11, Mount Aloysius 3

Potomac State carried its momentum into game two, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning behind RBI hits from Compton, Cooper, and Olivia Julian.

Compton continued her standout day, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Cooper added two RBIs and reached base multiple times. Makayla Irvin delivered one of the biggest performances of the day, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a pair of doubles, including key hits that helped extend the Catamount lead in the middle innings.

Julian contributed two RBIs, and Harrington added another multi-hit effort to pace a balanced offensive attack that saw the Catamounts collect 13 hits.

In the circle, Lacie Miller turned in a complete game performance, allowing just three runs on five hits while striking out three. Miller worked efficiently through six innings, keeping Mount Aloysius from mounting any sustained rally.

Potomac State's combination of explosive offense, disciplined at-bats, and steady pitching proved too much to overcome, as the Catamounts secured a convincing sweep and continued to build momentum early in the season.
