Keyser, W.Va. - Potomac State Softball put together another complete day at the plate, combining power, speed, and timely hitting to secure a doubleheader sweep over the College of Southern Maryland. The Catamounts blasted five home runs across the two games and consistently applied pressure offensively to control both contests.
Game 1 – WVU Potomac State 7, College of Southern Maryland 3
The Catamounts leaned on the long ball early, jumping out to a 5-0 lead behind a trio of home runs in the first two innings. Skyla Compton got things started with a two-run shot in the opening frame, while Carlee Haines added a solo homer in the second. Moments later, Adison Pritts delivered a two-run blast to extend the advantage.
Pritts paced the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, driving in three runs and adding another solo home run later in the game. Compton finished with two RBIs, while Katelyn Cooper contributed a pair of hits and an RBI, including a sacrifice fly.
Despite being outhit, the Catamounts made their hits count, totaling four home runs and seven RBIs on just eight hits.
Inside the circle, Delaney Randolph went the distance, earning the win after tossing all seven innings. Randolph allowed just one earned run while scattering 10 hits and striking out five, working through traffic to keep Southern Maryland from gaining momentum.
Game 2 – WVU Potomac State 11, College of Southern Maryland 3
Potomac State carried its momentum into game two with another explosive offensive showing, highlighted by a five-run third inning that broke the game open.
Katelyn Cooper delivered one of the standout performances of the day, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, including a clutch bases-clearing triple in the third inning. Alaira Harrington also turned in a perfect day at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with an RBI and reaching base four times.
Skyla Compton added a solo home run and scored twice, while Jaianna Wickline chipped in three hits and an RBI to help pace a 15-hit attack. The Catamounts were aggressive on the bases as well, swiping multiple bags and consistently moving into scoring position.
In the circle, Lacie Miller earned the win with 4.1 innings of work, allowing just one run while striking out one. Randolph returned in relief to close things out, limiting damage over the final innings.
With the sweep, Potomac State continued to showcase its offensive depth and ability to capitalize in key moments, using a mix of power and production throughout the lineup to secure another strong showing at home.
