Keyser, W.Va. - Potomac State Softball continued its dominant stretch at home, pairing strong pitching with explosive early offense to secure a doubleheader sweep over Penn State DuBois. The Catamounts controlled both games from the outset, outscoring their opponent 20-5 on the day.
Game 1 – WVU Potomac State 7, Penn State DuBois 0
The Catamounts opened the day with a complete performance, using timely hitting and dominant pitching to secure a shutout victory.
Maddie Fields set the tone early with a leadoff home run, finishing with two hits, three runs scored, and an RBI. Adison Pritts added two hits and an RBI, while Skyla Compton contributed an RBI triple as part of a balanced offensive effort.
Carlee Haines delivered a solo home run, and Katelyn Cooper drove in two runs with a pair of sacrifice flies as Potomac State capitalized on opportunities throughout the game.
Inside the circle, Delaney Randolph remained unbeaten, improving to 11-0 after tossing four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out one. Lacie Miller closed the door with three innings of shutout relief to complete the combined three-hit shutout.
Game 2 – WVU Potomac State 13, Penn State DuBois 5
Potomac State's offense erupted early in game two, scoring 12 runs across the first three innings to put the game out of reach.
After answering an early deficit, the Catamounts plated four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Alaira Harrington and a two-run single from Randolph. The momentum carried into the second inning when Katelyn Cooper launched a grand slam, breaking the game open and giving Potomac State a commanding lead.
Cooper finished with four RBIs, while Alyssa Abel delivered a strong performance with two hits and three RBIs. Harrington added two hits and two RBIs, and Maddie Fields chipped in with a home run as part of a 12-hit team effort.
In the circle, Randolph earned her second win of the day, moving to 12-0 after allowing just one run (unearned) over 3.1 innings while striking out four. Miller and McKinlea Hill combined in relief to close out the victory.
With the sweep, Potomac State continued to showcase its depth across the lineup and in the circle, using a mix of power, timely execution, and strong pitching to maintain momentum during a productive stretch of play.
