Keyser, W.Va. - Facing elimination in the NJCAA Region 20 Final Four Tournament, top-seeded Potomac State responded in a big way Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 3 seed College of Southern Maryland 10-6 in Game 5 to advance to the Region 20 Championship round.
With the win, the Catamounts move on to face No. 2 seed Cecil College on Sunday with the Region 20 title on the line.
Potomac State wasted little time taking control offensively, plating three runs in the opening inning. Jaianna Wickline delivered the early spark with a two-run double to center field before Delaney Randolph followed with an RBI single to give the Catamounts a 3-0 advantage.
The Catamounts added another run in the third inning as Randolph collected her second RBI hit of the game, scoring Wickline to push the lead to 4-0.
After Southern Maryland battled back to tie the game with a four-run sixth inning, Potomac State answered immediately in the bottom half with four runs of its own to reclaim momentum.
McKinlea Hill broke the deadlock with an RBI single before Maddie Fields delivered the biggest swing of the afternoon, launching a three-run home run to extend the lead to 10-6.
Wickline paced the Catamount offense with a standout performance, finishing 2-for-2 with a double, home run, four RBIs, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Fields added two hits, including a three-run homer, while driving in three runs. Randolph also turned in a strong outing both at the plate and in the circle, recording two hits, two RBIs, and pitching a complete game to earn the victory.
Adison Pritts added a pair of hits and scored twice, while Hill contributed a key RBI single off the bench during the decisive sixth inning rally.
Randolph worked all seven innings for Potomac State, allowing six runs — three earned — while striking out two in the complete-game effort.
The Catamounts will now meet Cecil College with the NJCAA Region 20 Championship at stake and an opportunity to force a decisive Game 7 on Sunday, May 10th, 2026 at 12pm.
