Compton Becomes Potomac State's First-Ever Unanimous All-American

Keyser, W.Va. -

Potomac State sophomore outfielder Skyla Compton has cemented her place in Catamount history, becoming the first unanimous All-American in Potomac State Athletics history after earning NJCAA Division II Softball Third Team All-America honors to pair with her previously announced NFCA NJCAA Division II Second Team All-America selection.

With recognition from both the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), Compton becomes the first student-athlete in program history to earn unanimous All-America distinction, capping one of the most decorated careers ever by a Catamount.

Earlier this month, Compton was named an NFCA NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American for the second consecutive season, becoming one of only nine student-athletes nationally to repeat as an NFCA Division II All-American in 2026. She was one of just 36 players from 15 institutions recognized by the NFCA and Potomac State's lone representative on the organization's All-America teams.

Now, with her selection to the NJCAA Division II Softball Third Team All-America squad, Compton adds another national honor to an already historic résumé, making her the first unanimous All-American in school history.

The sophomore completed another remarkable offensive season, appearing in 39 games while batting .533 with a staggering 1.213 slugging percentage and .604 on-base percentage. She collected 65 hits, scored 58 runs, blasted 20 home runs, drove in 72 RBI, and added 15 doubles, four triples, and 20 stolen bases. Even more impressive, Compton struck out just five times in 144 plate appearances.

Her 20 home runs and 72 RBI ranked among the nation's leaders throughout the season and helped guide the Catamounts to an NJCAA Region 20 Runner-Up finish.

Compton also excelled defensively in the outfield, posting a .979 fielding percentage with 42 putouts, five assists, and only one error in 48 total chances.

Throughout her two-year career at Potomac State, Compton established herself as one of the premier players in junior college softball. Her back-to-back NFCA All-America honors, combined with her NJCAA All-America recognition, highlight a career defined by consistency, elite offensive production, and leadership.

Compton concludes her Catamount career as one of the most accomplished student-athletes in program history. Along with becoming Potomac State's first unanimous All-American, she leaves behind a legacy that helped elevate the softball program on both the regional and national stage.

Her impact on the program extends far beyond the record book, setting a new standard of excellence for future Catamounts to follow.

Congratulations to Skyla Compton on an unforgettable career and a historic place in Potomac State Athletics history.
