Catamounts Rally for First Win of the Season

WVU Potomac State College secured their first victory of the season with a strong second-half comeback, defeating Allegany College of Maryland 3-1 on September 10, 2024, in Cumberland, MD.

After conceding an early goal to Allegany in the 8th minute, Potomac State regrouped and delivered a dominant performance in the second half. Hannah Ault leveled the score in the 47th minute, assisted by Meredith Munday, sparking the team's momentum. Mollie Wheatley then put Potomac State ahead in the 68th minute with an unassisted strike, followed by Munday sealing the win with another goal just a minute later.

Goalkeeper Hartley VanGilder stood tall with 11 saves, keeping Allegany at bay during crucial moments. Offensively, Munday led with a goal and an assist, while the team collectively outshot Allegany 8-6 in the second half.

This win marks the first of the season with their next game at the College of Southern Maryland on Friday the 20th.
