Baltimore, MD — The WVU Potomac State College Catamounts put on a commanding display Friday night, sweeping Frederick Community College in three straight sets (25-19, 25-18, 29-27) at the Physical Education Center in Baltimore. With contributions from nearly every position, the Catamounts improved to 4-2 on the season.
After a tightly contested first set, Potomac State found its rhythm in the second, tightening up on both sides of the ball. In the third, Frederick mounted a late surge, but the Catamounts held strong to close out the match in extra points.
Sarah Iman led the offensive charge with a match-high 14 kills, while Elliana Mosby and Alyssa Abel each added efficient, high-impact swings at the net. Christianna Sledge chipped in nine kills and played a key role on defense with 10 digs.
Victoria Lester steered the offense smoothly with 34 assists while also adding a pair of aces and six digs. Defensively, Delaney Randolph anchored the back row with 10 digs and added pressure from the service line with three aces. At the net, Abel, Sledge, and Iman combined for multiple blocks, disrupting Frederick's attack and helping to maintain momentum throughout the match.
Potomac State looks to close out their tri-match on a high note in Game 2 from Baltimore, taking on host Baltimore City Community College.
