Catamounts Sweep Team Titles at Wolfpack Invitational

The WVU Potomac State College cross country teams opened their 2025 season in dominant fashion, capturing both the men's and women's team titles at the Westmoreland Wolfpack Invitational on Friday evening. Both races were contested at the 5k distance.

Women's 5k
The Potomac State women were impressive, sweeping the top three spots on their way to the team championship.

Freshman Cassidy Cumberledge claimed the individual title in 21:14.1, followed by fellow freshmen Teagan Huff (2nd, 21:53.8) and Phoebe McCann-Weaver (3rd, 22:02.8). Sophomore Baylee Jarrett added valuable points with a 7th-place finish (23:17.5), while freshman Madesta Shoaf (14th, 26:22.0), sophomore Morgan Niland (15th, 26:49.3), and freshman Allison Sheets (20th, 27:46.3) rounded out the Catamount lineup.

Men's 5k
The Catamount men scored a decisive team victory with 26 points, well ahead of runner-up CCBC Catonsville (55) and PSU-DuBois (61).

Freshman Dylan Poston led the way with a strong runner-up finish in 17:59.6, just three seconds off the individual winner. Close behind, freshman LJ Sealey placed 4th in 18:15.4, followed by sophomore Logan Hetrick in 5th (18:34.8) and sophomore William Boddy in 6th (18:40.7). Freshman Richard Hudson sealed the victory with a 9th-place finish (18:47.9).

Additional Catamount finishers included freshman Sebastian Sharp (20th, 21:34.5) and sophomore Emmett Slayman (27th, 22:58.8).

Coach's Perspective
"This was the perfect way to start our season," said Head Coach Chris Biser. "Both squads showed depth and teamwork, and our freshmen made a huge impact right away. We're excited to build on this momentum."

The Catamounts return to action September 13th at the Catamount Classic, Potomac State's first home meet since Biser took over the program four years ago.
