#9 CCBC Essex Pulls Away From Potomac State Women on Saturday

December 13th, 2025

Baltimore, Md. - The Potomac State Women's Basketball team faced a tough road test Saturday afternoon, falling 105–47 to ninth-ranked CCBC Essex at Essex Gymnasium. Potomac State entered the matchup with an 8–3 overall record and battled early against one of the top teams in the NJCAA. The Catamounts stayed within single digits in the opening quarter before Essex used its depth and defensive pressure to gradually extend the lead heading into halftime.

Despite the challenging environment against a nationally ranked opponent, Potomac State continued to compete on both ends of the floor. The Catamounts showed resilience throughout the contest and closed the game with their strongest offensive quarter, scoring 18 points in the fourth.

Mya Glisan led Potomac State with a team-high 23 points, attacking efficiently from the field and providing a steady presence offensively. Larkin Walker added eight points and five rebounds, while Shymira Jones and Karmen Whetzel contributed on the glass as the Catamounts worked to counter Essex's physical interior play.

CCBC Essex, now 11–2 on the season, used balanced scoring and defensive pressure to pull away in the second half, capitalizing on turnovers and second-chance opportunities.

Potomac State will look to regroup and take lessons from the matchup as conference play continues. The Catamounts remain in strong position early in the season and will return to action later this week as they travel to face Westmoreland County Community College on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025 at 5pm.
