Balanced Attack, Stifling Defense Pushes Catamounts Past Southern Maryland

La Plata, Md. — The WVU Potomac State College women's basketball team delivered a dominant defensive performance Tuesday night, rolling to a 64-43 road victory over College of Southern Maryland to improve to 15-4 on the season. From the opening tip, the Catamounts set the tone. Potomac State raced out to an 18-9 advantage after the first quarter and never looked back, holding Southern Maryland to just 6 points in the third period to create separation. The Catamounts limited the Hawks to 26.5 percent shooting from the floor and just 16.1 percent from three-point range, forcing 19 turnovers and controlling the pace throughout.

Leading the charge offensively was Mya Glisan, who turned in one of the most efficient performances of the season. Glisan poured in 26 points on an impressive 11-of-12 shooting from the field, including a perfect 4-for-4 effort from beyond the arc. She added four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block in a well-rounded effort. Miya Harris provided steady production across the board, finishing with 13 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals in 36 minutes of action. Harris attacked the rim and converted 5-of-6 attempts from the free throw line to help the Catamounts maintain momentum.

On the glass, Brylee Wetzel anchored the defensive effort with a game-high 11 rebounds, adding a block and a steal while helping limit Southern Maryland to one-and-done possessions. Potomac State outrebounded the Hawks 33-38 overall but controlled key defensive boards in critical stretches. Off the bench, Larkin Walker contributed six points, four rebounds, and two blocks, while Meghan Harris knocked down a three-pointer as part of a balanced scoring effort that saw eight Catamounts reach the scoring column.

Potomac State shot an efficient 50 percent (24-of-48) from the field and 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from three-point range, capitalizing on quality shot selection and inside-out ball movement. With the win, the Catamounts continue to build momentum heading into the heart of their conference schedule, combining offensive efficiency with defensive intensity on both ends of the floor.
