Potomac State Closes Strong in Fourth Quarter to Secure Home Victory Against CCAC

Keyser, W.Va. — The WVU Potomac State College women's basketball team used a dominant fourth quarter to pull away from CC of Allegheny County and earn a 56-47 victory inside Lough Gym on February 12. With the win, the Catamounts improve to 16-4 on the season. In a tightly contested game through three quarters, Potomac State trailed 25-21 at halftime before responding with a steady second-half effort. The Catamounts outscored their opponent 15-11 in the third quarter to take a narrow 36-36 tie into the final frame, setting up a decisive closing stretch. Potomac State erupted for 20 points in the fourth quarter while holding CCAC to just 11, turning defensive stops into key offensive opportunities down the stretch.


Mya Glisan led the charge with an efficient 19-point performance on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor, adding seven rebounds and three assists. Miya Harris contributed 15 points, knocking down two three-pointers and going 5-of-6 from the free throw line, while also dishing out a game-high seven assists to guide the Catamount offense. Ericka Zirk controlled the paint with a double-digit scoring effort, finishing with 10 points and a team-high 13 rebounds to anchor the interior presence. Zirk also added four blocked shots, altering multiple attempts defensively. Riley Pollack chipped in nine points with two three-pointers, and Brylee Wetzel added seven rebounds and strong defensive minutes in the starting lineup.

 

As a team, the Catamounts shot 37 percent from the field and knocked down five three-pointers. Potomac State also won the rebounding battle 37-35 and recorded 14 assists on 20 made field goals, showcasing balanced offensive production.
With another strong defensive effort and a clutch fourth-quarter surge, the Catamounts protected their home floor and continue to build momentum as postseason play approaches.
