Potomac State Closes Strong, Comes Up Short

Keyser, W.Va. — Potomac State women's basketball team battled until the final buzzer Wednesday evening but came up short in a 59-51 decision against Cecil College inside the friendly confines of Lough gym. The Catamounts (18-5) showed resilience throughout, highlighted by a dominant fourth-quarter push that nearly erased a double-digit deficit. Potomac State outscored Cecil 24-17 in the final frame, fueled by defensive stops and second-chance opportunities, but the late surge was not enough to complete the comeback.

Sophomore guard Miya Harris paced the Catamount offense with 19 points, knocking down four three-pointers while adding five rebounds. Fellow starter Mya Glisan provided steady production inside and out, finishing with 15 points on 7-of-16 shooting to go along with five rebounds and three assists. In the post, Larkin Walker delivered a standout effort on the glass, hauling in a game-high 16 rebounds — including seven on the offensive end — to go with six points. Her presence helped the Catamounts control the boards with a 43-36 rebounding advantage and create multiple second-chance opportunities.

Potomac State's defense forced timely stops down the stretch, while Ericka Zirk contributed across the stat sheet with four assists and four rebounds. Meghan Harris added five points off the bench, and Emily Snyder chipped in four points and four rebounds in limited minutes. Despite generating 16 offensive rebounds and attempting 72 shots, the Catamounts were unable to find consistent rhythm offensively. Potomac State continued to compete possession by possession, cutting into the deficit in the closing minutes before time expired.

The Catamounts will look to regroup as they prepare for their next matchup, continuing their push toward postseason play.
