Wye Mills, Md. - Potomac State College women's basketball team delivered a dominant performance in the NJCAA Region 20 Semifinals on Friday afternoon, defeating the Community College of Beaver County 91-68 at Skipjack Arena to advance to the Region 20 Championship game. The Catamounts controlled the game from the opening tip, jumping out to a 23-10 lead after the first quarter. Potomac State continued to dictate the tempo throughout the contest, using efficient offense and strong work on the glass to maintain a comfortable advantage. Potomac State shot an impressive 50 percent from the field and knocked down 9-of-16 from three-point range while also winning the rebounding battle 55-46. The Catamounts also moved the ball effectively, finishing with 24 assists as a team.
Leading the offensive charge was Mya Glisan, who delivered a standout performance with a game-high 35 points on an efficient 13-of-17 shooting, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. Glisan also filled the stat sheet with nine rebounds, nine assists, and a block in a near triple-double performance. Miya Harris added 31 points for the Catamounts while contributing across the board with seven rebounds and seven assists. Harris went 10-of-16 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Potomac State also received strong production in the paint from Ericka Zirk, who recorded a double-double with 14 rebounds to go along with seven points and two blocks. Additional contributions came from Larkin Walker and Shymira Jones, who each added six points, while Brylee Wetzel chipped in four points and three assists.
With the victory, the Catamounts improve to 22-5 on the season and advance to the NJCAA Region 20 Championship Game. Potomac State will face CCBC Essex on Saturday, March 7th at 12 p.m. at Skipjack Arena in Wye Mills, Maryland, with a Region 20 title on the line.
