Catamounts Come Up Just Short in 85–82 Battle at Home

November 22, 2025

Keyser, W.Va. - Potomac State Men's Basketball put together a resilient and high-energy performance on Saturday afternoon but fell just shy in a tightly contested 85–82 loss to CCBC Dundalk inside Lough Gymnasium. The Catamounts battled from start to finish, erasing a halftime deficit and pushing the game to the wire with a strong second-half surge. Potomac State found its rhythm after the break, outscoring Dundalk 48–44 in the final 20 minutes. Increased defensive pressure, improved rebounding, and efficient scoring from both the starters and the bench fueled the Catamounts' comeback effort. Despite multiple late-game opportunities, Potomac State couldn't quite overcome the early gap.

Rodney Vilsaint led the Catamounts with a powerful all-around performance, scoring 24 points, grabbing 3 steals, and shooting a perfect 5–5 from the free-throw line while knocking down three shots from deep. His leadership and late-game shot-making kept Potomac State in the fight down the stretch. Off the bench, David Rushing delivered one of the standout performances of the season, posting 23 points on 9–13 shooting while securing 10 rebounds for an emphatic double–double. Rushing provided a huge spark in the paint, finishing at the rim and controlling the glass to help ignite Potomac State's second-half push. Joell Young continued his steady play with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and a team-high 7 assists, facilitating the offense and setting up key scoring runs. Jordan Taylor added 8 points and 5 rebounds, offering physicality and presence inside, while Peter Quaye chipped in 6 rebounds and strong interior defense.

As a team, the Catamounts shot 49.2% from the field and assisted on 19 of their 31 made baskets, showing unselfish ball movement throughout the contest. Potomac State also secured 32 rebounds and limited turnovers to stay within striking distance in all four quarters. While the final score didn't tilt in their favor, the Catamounts demonstrated toughness, depth, and cohesion in a game that came down to the closing possessions. Potomac State now turns its attention toward building on this strong effort as they prepare to travel to take on Frederick Community College on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025 at 7:00pm.
