Late Surge Lifts Catamounts Past Pennsylvania Highlands, 90–78

Johnstown, Pa. - Potomac State Men's Basketball used a strong second-half performance to pull away from Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, earning a 90–78 road victory on Monday night. After trailing 46–42 at the break, the Catamounts responded with a dominant second half, outscoring the Black Bears 48–32 over the final 20 minutes to secure the win. Potomac State shot 41.3 percent from the field for the game and knocked down 13 three-pointers, while also converting 15-of-17 attempts from the free-throw line.

RJ Greene provided a spark off the bench, pouring in a game-high 28 points on 9-of-15 shooting and a perfect 8-for-8 effort at the charity stripe. Greene also dished out six assists, helping fuel the Catamount offense during the decisive second-half run. Joell Young added 18 points and four three-pointers, while Peter Quaye chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds. Avion Blackwood made the most of his minutes, scoring seven points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting, including a three-pointer.

Potomac State displayed fantastic rebounding effort, highlighted by Rodney Vilsaint's 10 rebounds and eight points. Vilsaint also added two steals and helped anchor the Catamount defense. Defensively, Potomac State held Pennsylvania Highlands to just 35.4 percent shooting from the floor and 27.6 percent from beyond the arc. The Catamounts forced 16 turnovers and capitalized with key stops during a second-half stretch that turned a close contest into a comfortable margin.

Potomac State will look to build on the momentum as the Catamounts host Davis & Elkins' JV team on Tuesday, January 20th, 2026 at 7pm.
