Wye Mills, MD - WVU Potomac State Men's Basketball delivered a statement performance on Friday night, upsetting nationally ranked No. 16 Chesapeake College, 78–64, on the Skipjacks' home court. The Catamounts wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for 55 first-half points while holding Chesapeake to just 23. Potomac State shot efficiently and controlled the tempo throughout the opening 20 minutes, building a commanding 55–23 advantage at the break.
Rodney Vilsaint spearheaded the offensive attack, scoring at all three levels as the Catamounts capitalized on transition opportunities and defensive stops. Potomac State's pressure defense forced contested shots and limited Chesapeake to 27.4 percent shooting for the game. Chesapeake attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, outscoring Potomac State 41–23, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. The Catamounts responded to each run with timely baskets and key defensive rebounds to preserve the double-digit lead down the stretch.
Vilsaint finished with a game-high 34 points on 11-of-19 shooting, knocking down five three-pointers and going 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. RJ Greene added 12 points off the bench, while David Rushing contributed six points and five rebounds. Rodney Carter led the Catamounts on the glass with eight rebounds. Potomac State closed the night with a 42–41 rebounding edge and held Chesapeake to just 6-of-30 shooting from beyond the arc.
The road victory marks a signature win for the Catamounts as they continue conference play and build momentum heading into the remainder of the season.
