Keyser, W.Va. — Potomac State College men's basketball team exploded for 57 first-half points and never looked back, defeating CC of Allegheny County 87-73 inside Lough Gymnasium on February 12. With the win, the Catamounts improve to 18-6 on the season. Potomac State set the tone early, pushing the pace and attacking efficiently on the offensive end. The Catamounts shot 45.9 percent from the field for the game and knocked down 10 three-pointers, but it was their first-half surge that created separation. Potomac State carried a commanding 57-29 lead into the break after shooting 50 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.
Colby Margenau led the way with 14 points, five rebounds, four steals, and two assists in an all-around effort. David Rushing provided a spark off the bench, pouring in 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including three three-pointers, while adding three assists. Peter Quaye matched Rushing with 13 points, connecting on all three of his attempts from beyond the arc. Rodney Vilsaint and RJ Greene each added 11 points to balance the scoring attack. Greene also contributed four assists and five rebounds, helping facilitate an offense that totaled 18 assists on 34 made field goals. Jordan Taylor chipped in five points on a perfect 2-for-2 shooting night, while Antonio Pollard added seven points and a pair of steals.
Defensively, the Catamounts were active throughout, forcing turnovers and turning them into transition opportunities. Potomac State recorded 14 steals and committed just one team turnover in a disciplined performance on both ends of the floor. The Catamounts finished with 87 points on 74 shot attempts, showcasing their depth as 10 different players found the scoring column. With another strong home performance, Potomac State continues to build momentum as the regular season winds down.
