Keyser, W.Va. — The WVU Potomac State College men's basketball team fell 78-69 to Garrett College Saturday afternoon inside Lough Gymnasium, splitting the season series after earning a road win earlier this year. Potomac State (20-7) battled through a tightly contested first half that ended in a 29-29 deadlock, but Garrett used a 49-point second-half performance to pull away down the stretch.
Jordan Taylor led the Catamounts with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting while adding nine rebounds, continuing his strong presence in the paint. Rodney Vilsaint contributed 12 points and six rebounds, knocking down two three-pointers, while Colby Margenau added 10 points, connecting on a pair from beyond the arc. Joell Young orchestrated the offense with eight assists to go along with eight points and four rebounds, helping Potomac State tally 15 assists as a team. Peter Quaye chipped in eight points and seven rebounds, and RJ Greene provided nine points off the bench.
The Catamounts shot 37.5 percent from the field and converted eight three-pointers but were unable to slow Garrett's efficient offensive attack, which shot 43.9 percent overall and 50 percent from beyond the arc. Despite forcing just seven turnovers, Potomac State remained within striking distance before the Lakers created separation in the final minutes.
With the loss, the Catamounts move to 20-7 on the season and will look to regroup as they finish regular season play on the road on Wednesday, February 25th, 2026 at 7pm against CC of Beaver County (PA).
