Monaca, Pa. — Potomac State College men's basketball team closed the regular season in dramatic fashion Wednesday night, earning an 89-87 road victory to finish 21-7, the program's best regular-season mark since the 2018-19 campaign. Trailing 43-39 at halftime, the Catamounts erupted for 50 second-half points, shooting 51.5 percent from the field for the game to complete the comeback and seal the two-point win.
Sophomore guard Jordan Taylor paced the offense with 24 points on an efficient 10-of-13 shooting, adding six rebounds and two steals. Fellow starter Colby Margenau controlled the interior, finishing with 23 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double while knocking down 10 of his 17 attempts from the floor. Rodney Vilsaint provided a steady presence on both ends, contributing 21 points, three rebounds, and three steals while connecting on three three-pointers. His timely shot-making helped swing momentum in the second half as Potomac State tightened its grip on the contest.
The Catamounts received key contributions throughout the lineup. Rodney Carter added seven points and five rebounds off the bench, while Avion Blackwood chipped in five points and two steals in limited minutes. As a team, Potomac State won the battle on the glass 40-28 and forced 17 turnovers, converting defensive pressure into crucial scoring opportunities. Despite facing a hot-shooting opponent from beyond the arc, the Catamounts maintained composure late, making enough plays down the stretch to secure the road victory and cap the regular season on a high note.
With momentum in hand, Potomac State now turns its focus to the upcoming NJCAA Region 20 Playoffs. The 21-7 regular-season finish reflects the program's continued growth and sets the stage for a strong postseason push as the Catamounts aim to extend their season deep into March.
