Potomac State Advances to Region 20 Semifinals with Quarterfinal Win at Southern Maryland

La Plata, Md. - The WVU Potomac State College men's basketball team punched its ticket to the NJCAA Region 20 Semifinals with an 86–76 victory over the College of Southern Maryland in Tuesday night's quarterfinal matchup at the CSM Gymnasium. The Catamounts came out strong and controlled the opening half, building momentum behind efficient shooting and strong rebounding. Potomac State shot 63.8% from the field in the game and knocked down 10 three-pointers to set the tone offensively. Potomac State surged ahead early and carried a 45–27 advantage into halftime after limiting Southern Maryland to just 40.8% shooting and forcing key turnovers. The Catamounts continued to manage the lead throughout the second half, holding off a late push to secure the 10-point postseason victory.

Jordan Taylor led the Catamounts with a dominant performance, scoring 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting while adding a game-high 14 rebounds to record a double-double. Taylor also knocked down four three-pointers to help fuel Potomac State's offensive attack. Rodney Vilsaint added 19 points and six rebounds while going a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and converting six free throws. Joell Young delivered an efficient outing as well, finishing with 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting and dishing out a team-high seven assists. Peter Quaye contributed 10 points along with two steals and a block, while Rodney Carter provided a spark off the bench with a perfect 5-for-5 shooting performance to score 10 points in 23 minutes.

As a team, Potomac State capitalized offensively with 30 made field goals on just 47 attempts. The Catamounts also tallied 17 assists on the night while connecting on 58.8% of their three-point attempts. With the victory, Potomac State advances to the NJCAA Region 20 Semifinals where the Catamounts will face CCBC Dundalk on Friday, March 6 at 5 p.m. at Skipjack Arena in Wye Mills, Maryland.
