Catamounts’ Season Ends in Region 20 Semifinals

Wye Mills, Md. — The WVU Potomac State College men's basketball team saw its postseason run come to a close Friday evening, falling to CCBC Dundalk 68–61 in the NJCAA Region 20 Semifinals at Skipjack Arena. Potomac State (22-8) opened the game with strong energy on both ends of the floor, building a halftime advantage behind balanced scoring and solid defensive effort. The Catamounts shot efficiently in the opening 20 minutes and carried a 35–29 lead into the break.

Sophomore guard Joell Young led the Catamounts with 13 points and a team-high seven assists while also adding three steals. Rodney Vilsaint provided a steady presence offensively, finishing with 12 points and six rebounds on 6-of-10 shooting. Potomac State maintained control through much of the first half, using defensive pressure and timely shooting to keep Dundalk at bay. Colby Margenau added 11 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers, while RJ Greene contributed 11 points and six rebounds off the bench to provide a key spark.

The Lions rallied in the second half, outscoring the Catamounts 39–26 after the break to pull ahead late. Potomac State continued to battle defensively, recording six blocked shots, including four from Jordan Taylor, who also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Despite the loss, the Catamounts capped off a successful campaign. Potomac State's 22 wins mark the program's highest win total since the 2017–18 season and reflect the team's growth throughout the year as it advanced to the Region 20 Semifinals.

The Catamounts finish the 2025–26 season with a 22–8 overall record.
